MAIL SERVER |
We use a dedicated mail server to better send out e-queries. You can see the gateway page for our server at www.newsorg.info.
A key reason for using a dedicated or static server is that some Internet service providers like AOL block e-mails from dynamic mail servers (the ones used by most commercial services with multiple users). A dedicated server is much faster, too, since commercial online services often slow down at peak usage times, since 100-200 people use the same server. Many commercial services also limit the number of e-mails you can send with one mailing or in a day. Plus, a dedicated server helps us get the e-mail through spam filters. We have a second service for back-up, just in case one server goes down.
Having these dedicated servers also means we can provide you with your own e-mail account using one of our mail server domain names with a forward to your regular e-mail. This way you can send a query under a private name through one of our domains which are short and easy to remember, such as newsorg.info (i.e: js@newsorg.info, john@newsorg.info, etc.) Your e-mail goes out under this name and any replies are forwarded automatically to your own e-mail.
